Bob’s commitment to media as a tool for change along with a deep capacity to successfully work across communities and cultures has led him on a journey around the world. As a media-maker, educator and communication consultant, he traverses the new media landscape with ongoing commitment to its’ use for promotion, education and advocacy.
With extensive “end to end” experience, from conceptualization through design and execution of all aspects of the production process, he works across a variety of mediums that include live events, video, print, photo and the web. Bob’s creative approach is informed by building strategic partnerships, effective project and team management, and strong communication skills.
An innovative problem solver with a capacity to succeed under challenging conditions whether professional, cultural, or technological, his lens has focused on subjects as diverse as environmental justice, folk theater of North India, maternal health in Yemen, post-9/11 poetics, marine ecology in Oceania, and the worldwide polio epidemic, to name a few.
As an educator with a background in Film Studies and International Education (MA), Bob has taught media production and media literacy workshops for high schools, universities, government and non-governmental organizations. After a three-year residency as Lecturer/Senior Producer at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji, he returned to New York to launch REM Communications.
